The Challenge
Oatly sought to enhance their ecommerce experience and establish a more unified digital presence for their international expansion. The main challenges were integrating ecommerce functionality with their existing WordPress content, scaling their Shopify site to handle increasing transaction volumes, and providing a seamless user experience across different markets.
Additionally, Oatly needed a cohesive approach to email marketing, SEO, and subscription functionality to support their growth.
Launching a brand in the US that has history and assets from other global markets carries some unique challenges and opportunities. As we were looking to launch our OATLY brand of vegan plant-based milks in the US, we knew we wanted to have an eCommerce component to our website. While the company had been operating for over 25 years in Europe and was sold in over 30+ countries, our team in Sweden didn’t really have any experience with this or have much of a background into what it would take to accomplish that. In working together with Adin, they helped us to develop a strategy for building off the base of existing assets we had to accomplish our goals of launching an eCommerce site within the US on time and on budget. They combined a really excellent understanding of the Shopify platform and CMS with great thinking around complex subjects like global proxy settings to help our enthusiastic (but very inexperienced!) team launch the site. They were great communicators and collaborators that kept us in the loop on our status and kept the project moving forward – even when things didn’t always go as planned, they were nimble and knowledgeable to make sure we were informed on what was going on so we could provide input to keep the design on track. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to partner with a team that combines deep Shopify platform expertise with excellent web site design and technical development. We would work with them again and are still working to find next step projects their team can assist us in.
